The Kumar Research Group is delighted to congratulate Daniel Guo, Zainab Yassine, and Nemo Wu on receiving the Harold Theodore Clyde Howard Endowed Honours Award for 2026.
This UNSW Faculty of Science Honours scholarship recognises academic merit and a clear commitment to chemistry. Daniel Guo, Zainab Yassine, and Nemo Wu have earned a recognition the Kumar Research Group is very proud to share.

Daniel Guo and Zainab Yassine are Honours students in the Kumar Research Group. Daniel Guo is working on antimicrobial peptide mimics, and Zainab Yassine is developing dual-acting quorum sensing inhibitors. Daniel Guo and Zainab Yassine bring curiosity, consistency, and real care for the science.
Nemo Wu completed a student research project with the Kumar Research Group. Time spent in the lab remains part of the group's story, and the same award now recognises the student project. The Kumar Research Group congratulates Nemo Wu warmly.
Students connected with the Kumar Research Group make up half of this year’s recipients. Daniel Guo and Zainab Yassine are current members of the lab, and Nemo Wu trained in the lab earlier through a student project. Such a share is remarkable for one research group, and a credit to Daniel Guo, Zainab Yassine, and Nemo Wu.
The result is also a credit to Professor Naresh Kumar and to the lab. Guidance, high standards, and steady encouragement from Professor Naresh Kumar give students the confidence to aim high and the support to get there. Half of an endowed Honours award going to students who have worked in the Kumar Research Group is a fine measure of Professor Naresh Kumar's mentorship, and of the standard the whole group holds.
