Congratulations, Dr Robert Rourke. From first reactions in the lab to walking across that stage, you have earned every bit of this day.
Your PhD in organic synthesis (building novel molecules with care, craft, and stubborn attention to detail) strengthened the group's chemistry at its roots. That kind of dedication does not always make noise, but it leaves a lasting mark on every project that follows.
We also want to thank you for always being eager to help, and for the many times you sat down with others to troubleshoot protocols together. That spirit of teamwork made hard days in the lab lighter, and we are grateful for it.
A warm thank you to Professor Naresh Kumar for the support, patience, and mentorship that helped Rob reach this moment. Standing beside your supervisor in full PhD regalia is a picture worth framing, and a reminder that great science is rarely a solo act.
Also: Rob, we still think your thesis deserves its own ISBN. If anyone asks how long(pages) a PhD should be, we will simply point at yours and smile. Quality and quantity, somehow both.
The entire Kumar Research Group is proud of you. Congratulations, Dr Rourke.
Well done, Rob. The gown suits you, and so does the title.
